Well it's been another one of those days. After working a 15 hour night/morning shift, we went for Sarah's regularly scheduled visit with her developmental doc. She's doing great developmentally...right on track! But when he found out that she had the seizure a few weeks ago, he was just a little concerned that it had lasted as long as it did ( and also knows that i worry about every little thing). So for everyone's peace of mind he decided to schedule an EEG of her brain just to make sure everything looked okay. While we were in there we also noticed that she had a temperature, and just a few weeks after one of her ear tubes came out, she's ended up with another ear infection already. So he gave us antibiotics and a just-in-case $400 2-dose seizure medication (thank goodness for insurance!). Well about 10:00 tonight Sarah ended up having another seizure, and this one we were able to time. We fumbled to try and figure out the new seizure med (which is injected rectally) just in case the seizure lasted more than 5 minutes. Somewhere in the craziness our syringe of med was empty (we still can't figure out what we did wrong or where the $200 (or $50 for the insured) medication squirted out to), but luckily her seizure finally stopped at about 4 minutes again. Being the obsessive NICU nurse/mother that i am we took her to the E.R. just in case. She was dehydrated so got some IV fluids and then was released and we were told to keep our EEG appointment for tomorrow. The video below is Sarah just a few hours before her seizure and very excited that she's learned to say her name for the first time! She also said "Kori's in trouble" after he stole her cracker again. So funny! Sorry for the lengthy post...I'll go to bed now!
